Even though it’s been a few weeks since Bruno Fernandes left Sporting for Manchester United, the midfielder continues to make it to the headlines in the Portuguese press for many reasons.
There were many Thursday stories about the Red Devils’ match against Club Brugge in the Europa League, but the 24-year-old is also highlighted for a charity effort he’s made.
The story has been told by Portuguese comedian Fernando Rocha. A few days ago, he’s asked for donations for a kid called Rafael, who needed a therapeutic tricycle. That’s the best way to prevent his leg muscles from degenerating.
Rocha hadn’t directed the request to any specific person, and even got a total of €600 from several donations, but he claims Bruno Fernandes contacted him and offered the entire amount.
“Well, I made a post on my social media asking for donations to raise funds for the kid to have the tricycle. My friend Bruno Fernandes called me and said: ‘Rocha, order the tricycle, my wife and I insist on taking that responsibility’.
“Although Bruno doesn’t insist that it’s known that he and his wife offered it, I insist on telling the world the greatness of these human beings. Thanks Bruno Fernandes and Ana Pinho, may the universe bring you back all the joy you are causing these parents and these children.”
Besides Rafael, his sister Melany also deals with health issues. That’s why Fernando Rocha took the other €600 and sent it to the kids’ parents to make the best use of it.
