Earlier this month, we covered claims from France that Arsenal and Everton made ‘firm offers’ for Gabriel Magalhães in the winter market, but Lille rejected everything sent their way.

Having failed to sign the defender in January, Le10 Sport now states the Gunners and the Merseyside club have ‘firm intentions’ to return for him in the summer.

Another English club have set their sights on the 22-year-old as Leicester City have ‘just entered’ the race for him.

Brendan Rodgers’ side lost Harry Maguire to Manchester United last summer and they haven’t signed in a replacement for the England international.

It’s claimed the Foxes view Gabriel as a potential successor for Maguire at the King Power Stadium. That’s obviously questionable, given Çağlar Söyüncü has very much been that man.

Leicester are in a firm position to qualify for next season’s Champions League and should they achieve it, Le10 adds they will have better financial resources to shop in the transfer window.

Gabriel signed a new contract with Lille on February 3rd and there’s an unofficial exit clause which will allow him to leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer. A potential transfer could see interested clubs pay €30m to Lille.
