A few days ago, we relayed the news from Il Mattino that Napoli were interested in Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko, with a potential (but unlikely) deal for Piotr Zielinski next season being discussed.

Well, while the latter part of this has been ignored in Thursday’s edition of the newspaper, the former has not.

In fact, there’s a good chance the Ukrainian starlet could end up in Serie A next season, but only on loan.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a big fan of the 20-year-old, but knows full well that with the current squad at his disposal, finding a spot for him would be very difficult.

That’s why a temporary deal to Italy could certainly work nicely for everyone involved, with Napoli looking for one extra addition to their creative force for the upcoming season.

While a few Premier League sides are also said to be taking an interest in the attacking midfielder, Il Mattino make it clear his preferred option would be to team up with the likes of Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne.

Furthermore, Zinchenko happens to also be Cristiano Giuntoli’s (Napoli’s director of football) ‘favourite’ target for the role, even if he has other names on his list just in case.

There’s some pushing going on here by Il Mattino, and they seem pretty confident something can be done.

Will they be right?
