With the season Rafael Leão has just had for AC Milan, helping them to win the Serie A title, it’s natural that he’s being pursued for Europe’s richest clubs this summer.
And even though the strongest rumours in the past week have been linking him to Real Madrid, we now get to see interesting claims regarding the chase from Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s interest in the midfielder had already been reported before, and now gets a strong update from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.
The reporter starts by claiming that despite Milan currently offering Leão a contract extension, it’s still ‘not certain’ that they’ll be able to keep him at the club.
So adding that several clubs are interested, Aouna points out that Manchester City started talks for the signing ‘a few weeks ago’. The Premier League champions are said to be in touch with agent Jorge Mendes.
The report just doesn’t say how much the Citizens could pay for the signing. Since Milan have been sending strong messages claiming they’re not keen on letting their star go this summer, any transfer would likely be expensive.
