Because there’s been very little movement in the Joao Cancelo to Manchester City transfer saga of late and few are believing that Bayern Munich or Barcelona are actually interested in the defender, some members of the Italian press are having to find new excuses as to why there hasn’t been a sale yet.
Tuttosport are the culprits, as they reiterate the Bavarians are indeed hovering without actually doing much, seemingly there to threaten the Premier League champions from a distance.
Beyond that, there’s very little new, with the price tag (€55-60m) remaining the same, and a 178th confirmation (we might not even be exaggerating here) that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Cancelo and wants him at the Etihad next season.
The only tidbit of information that has changed is the need to get rid of a player on the right hand side of the defence before the Portugal international’s arrival, with Danilo the expected sacrifice.
Kyle Walker, as everyone expected, is safe and it’s up to Manchester City to find the Brazilian an exit route, as Juventus aren’t interested in him being included in a deal for Cancelo.
That’s it: Danilo needs to leave before the new right-back arrives, and once that’s done, everyone can go back to haggling over the price, which will likely be around €60m.
