Manchester City sent a scout to Turkey on Monday night to watch Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici, claim Hürriyet.
The Turkish international has been one of the best young talents in Turkey since making his debut for Trabzonspor, and he’s also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the past week.
Hürriyet say Manchester City scouts travelled to Trabzon to monitor Yazici during his side’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor. Yazici was once again one of the standout players for the Turkish side, and provided an assist for Burak Yilmaz.
Last week we covered reports from Turkey that Tottenham are lining up a ‘very serious offer’ for Yazici. Tottenham scouts have reportedly been following the player’s performances this season, and been impressed by the 20 year old.
It’s likely both Manchester City and Tottenham would need to put in a decent offer if they want to land the youngster.
Manchester City are familiar with the Turkish transfer market after they signed Enes Unal from Bursaspor in 2015. The English side snapped the forward up for just €2m before selling the striker to Villarreal for €14m last summer.
The Premier League side were also linked with Cengiz Under in the last window before the player’s eventual move to AS Roma.
Linking players to Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham seems to be a favourite route for the Turkish press, which either means Spurs have scouts working in the country or the rumour option is becoming a habit.
