If you know anything about West Ham United’s transfer focus over the last few years, you’ll know that Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri features heavily.

The striker is a long-term target for David Moyes and his team, who have looked to sign him on several occasions over the last few years, each time being turned down by the player, who always wanted to remain at Sevilla.

That, though, appears to have changed as ABC Sevilla now cover him and various reports detailing that he wants to depart the Spanish side.

The newspaper reports that, according to Al Jazeera and Deportes Cope Sevilla, the striker has ‘asked to leave’ Sevilla in the January transfer window.

They explain that after a summer which saw En-Nesyri lose one of his ‘most faithful companions’ in the dressing room in Yassine Bono, the striker is now also unhappy with manager Diego Alonso.

He ‘does not understand’ how the manager continues to pick striker Mariano ahead of him, despite the fact he has scored more goals than him and is the ‘offensive reference’ for the club.

He also believes there’s ‘imbalances in the team’s efforts’ and would prefer to leave than stick around as he has done in the past, when West Ham tried to lure him away.

His unhappiness has been shown on the pitch, with the Moroccan failing to show ‘excessive joy’ celebrating his goals.

That’s seen as a clear sign he is ‘not comfortable at Sevilla’ and has now seemingly changed his opinion regarding a move away, something which should interest West Ham.

They’re the club who have targeted him hardest over the last few years and they also desperately need a new striker, having not replaced Gianluca Scamacca after he left. There are also doubts over whether Michail Antonio is now up to the standard required, and a striker would be welcomed.

There’s clearly a belief from David Moyes and his staff that En-Nesyri would fit the bill, that’s been demonstrated by their efforts in the past few years, and now could be their ideal opportunity to do so.
