Earlier this month, claims coming out of Argentina stated Manchester City have found an agreement in principle with Boca Juniors’ Valentín Barco.

With the treble winners pushed forward as the main interested party, the left-back had reportedly informed people close to him that he’s ready to make a switch.

Boca Juniors vice-president Juan Román Riquelme was now asked about Manchester City’s interest and also about a reported offer from Brighton & Hove Albion to sign the 19-year-old, and his comments are relayed by Pagina12.

Responding to that, the South American club’s official has urged the player not to rush a decision about his future.

“You have to be patient with Barco, he has a contract until December 2024, what happened to Varela, Medina, Zeballos is happening to him… He had a very high moment and now he is alternating good games with bad games. It is logical at his age. He has to stabilise, it happens to everyone,” he said.

According to Planeta Boca Juniors, Manchester City and Brighton both have a ‘firm interest’ in the defender and a deal could be negotiated with the Argentine club in the winter market.

Barco has mainly been used as a left winger this year while has also been deployed as a left-back and a left wing-back. He has scored a goal and registered three assists from 20 games.
