Towards the end of February we covered claims from France of serious Liverpool interest in Mohamed Bahlouli.

The young Lyon player was said to have caught the eye of scouts from Liverpool, and as such the club were ‘on the offensive’ to sign him.

Bahlouli wasn’t described as indifferent to the attention, with France Football saying the 18 year old was ‘tempted by the prospect of joining Liverpool’.

Now the club’s chances of signing the player look to be rising rapidly. Back then, it was explained Lyon needed to manage the situation well to avoid losing the youngster to Liverpool or elsewhere, and it doesn’t appear they’ve been able to do that.

L’Equipe report that Lyon are having issues getting some of their best young prospects to commit, and Bahlouli is named as one of them. The club have offered a training contract, and the footballer is obviously not impressed as he hasn’t accepted.

This all lines things up perfectly for Liverpool.
