Former Italian midfielder Pasquale Foggia has been interviewed by website Cagliari News 24, and talked a little about the good time he’s had at the club.
The 36-year-old only spent the 2007/08 season at the Serie A side, since was loaned by Lazio. But his spell has been good enough for the fans to still remember him.
Something mentioned in the interview was that his time at Cagliari saw him receive attention from several clubs at that time, including Premier League side Liverpool.
“That’s history. That year at Cagliari, especially at the beginning but also after, they gave me the opportunity to establish myself as a footballer,” Foggia told Cagliari News 24.
“There was Liverpool, it’s true, and in January many other teams who wanted me both in Italy and abroad. Then with Cellino we made the choice to stay until June to try to hit salvation (not be relegated), which was then granted.”
After returning to Lazio, Foggia stayed at the club for three more years. He was later loaned out to Sampdoria, then sold to Dubai CSC and finally moved to Salernitana, where he retired in 2014. He’s now a sporting director at Benevento.
