With the summer window getting closer, rumours about players who see their contracts expire soon can only grow.
Stefan De Vrij is one of them, and should be leaving Lazio at the end of the season. As he’s been wanted by several top clubs in the past years, a big battle for him would obviously be formed at this stage.
According to Italian outlet La Reppublica (via Calcio Mercato) this Friday, Italian sides are pretty keen on him, with Inter Milan getting to advanced talks, and local rivals Milan, who had an offer turned down in January, also ready for a new attempt. Juventus get a mention as well.
But European giants are expected to join the race, and the list is quite impressive. Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid would all be waiting to make the defender an offer.
Liverpool had already been linked to De Vrij this week and previously. Newspaper Tuttosport claimed that Reds were alongside Inter Milan in the race for him, even though the clubs were concerned about his current fitness.
The defender is having injections to stop the pain on his knee, so the interested sides would be curious about how would he react if he stops taking them.
According to Italian claims, Liverpool have already made an offer to De Vrij on personal terms, which fits in with the more recent claims of Jurgen Klopp’s club being very much in the battle.
