Liverpool have long been named as one of the interested parties in FC Porto’s Luis Díaz.
Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the chase and earlier this week, they made an offer to sign him in the winter market.
On Thursday, Record reported that Tottenham’s effort to sign the winger could see the likes of the Reds make a proposal in the coming days, since Jürgen Klopp is an admirer of the 25-year-old and would like to beat Antonio Conte to the move.
O Jogo brings us the latest development in this case and their title explains where the attacker could end up… and it’s not Tottenham.
Within the report, it’s said the Colombia international has preferred to join a club bigger than Tottenham, who will fight for silverware and play in the Champions League regularly. Therefore, he preferred a move to Anfield over joining Antonio Conte’s side.
After knowing this, Liverpool stepped in and ‘presented a formal offer’ to Porto for Díaz. The proposal includes a fixed fee of €45m plus €15m bonuses, if the attacker ‘fulfils certain goals’.
Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, the president of the Portuguese club, doesn’t intend to give up the player for less than €60m. The bonuses offered by the Merseyside club helps them meet the demands set by the Porto chief.
O Jogo are not clear whether the agreement between the two clubs will be to allow Díaz move to Liverpool in January or to let the South American move to England next summer.
Whether Conte and Tottenham will make an attempt to beat this move remains to be seen.
