Two days ago, Foot Mercato reported Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are pushing to sign Lyon’s Rayan Cherki in the winter market.
Lyon must raise funds to avoid getting relegated to the second division and can do this by selling some players.
RMC Sport now mention Liverpool as a candidate to sign the 21-year-old when discussing PSG’s plans for January.
The focus is on the Ligue 1 winners’ desire to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray. They are also looking to sign a winger to provide competition to Bradley Barcola.
PSG have held talks in recent days, but the detail of the player hasn’t filtered out yet. The report makes it clear it won’t be Cherki as not everyone within the club are in favour of his arrival.
It’s claimed the France U21 international has other offers and Liverpool are mentioned immediately. This suggests the Reds made an offer for the Lyon star, who managed five goals and seven assists this season.
In fact, Arne Slot’s side are the only team named as they have ‘positioned themselves’ to sign him.
PSG not pursuing the deal for Cherki should give the Premier League side an advantage for January.
