The future of Mario Balotelli is a subject of discussion in every transfer window.

Saturday is no usual day, as Balotelli returns to Melwood to take part in pre-season training, and for the very first time under Jurgen Klopp.

It’s unlikely the Italian international will get a chance to impress Klopp, as Liverpool are actively looking to sell him. Balotelli is currently on very high wages, and Liverpool have plenty of options to play up front.

However, the player has admitted to Italian website Corriere della Sera that he is hoping to stay at Anfield next season.

“I hope to stay in Liverpool,” Balotelli told Corriere della Sera.

Balotelli was also asked about his relationship with his former coaches, and it seems he didn’t really like Brendan Rodgers.

He added: “Great, great with everyone. Even with the presidents, Moratti, Berlusconi. It was just disastrous with Brendan Rodgers.”

The 25-year-old doesn’t seem to have learnt from his past mistakes, and with statements like that he is bound to find himself surrounded by controversies again.

That said, Rodgers did seem determined that the Italian turned into a poor signing, and at no point look prepared to give him a good chance in a formation that would suit.
