Thursday saw fresh claims from Italian market intermediary Vincenzo Morabito. Speaking on the future of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Liverpool were once again pulled into the equation.
Koulibaly has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several years, ahead of each transfer window. For quite some time, the Italian media were insistent that Napoli had leaked a €100m offer from Manchester United, a claim which started before the English club bought Harry Maguire from Leicester City.
Whether true or not, the claims continued, with Napoli trying to cling to a high price. Last summer, Manchester City made several attempts, and now it’s Liverpool being linked again.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are thought to be looking for a defensive signing, with Ozan Kabak expected to return to Schalke.
Morabito said: “Liverpool will go heavily and, at the moment, I think there is a big possibility that Koulibaly will be able to leave Napoli.”
La Repubblica follow that up, and state the Reds have been keen for a while and ‘have not stopped’ their pursuit of Koulibaly. Bayern Munich are also linked, and given the defender turns 30-years-of-age next month, his value is now put at €50m+.
