Back in March, we covered Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach Claudio Taffarel being fired from his job with the Brazilian national team.

The 57-year-old had worked with the Seleção under manager Tite since 2014, and following the boss’ departure, he was left out of the friendlies played this year.

It turns out, however, that Taffarel is now back with the national team, according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte.

The website features a story explaining that with the ‘experience and idolatry’ he has, the World Cup hero will be working in the preparation for friendlies against Guinea and Senegal.

It’s not clear if that’s a definite return for the coach, who has had a full-time role at Liverpool since 2021.

Brazil are yet to find a new manager to replace Tite. They’ve been using Ramon Menezes as an interim coach.

The new boss should be named this summer, and that’s when Taffarel will know if he’ll keep the job. For now, he’ll have another chance to work alongside Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson with the national team.
