Southampton are in negotiations with Genk for striker Paul Onuachu but are yet to get close to an agreement for the striker.

That’s according to journalist Bob Faesen, who says Onuachu trained ‘as normal’ with Genk today despite wanting to make the move.

Onuachu has been linked with a move to the Premier League in every window for the past few years but never managed to secure it.

He finds himself the subject of interest again this month, with Everton and Southampton both reportedly keen on a deal as they desperately try and add a forward to their squads before the end of the window.

Faesen only covers Southampton at this point, stating that the Saints and Genk are ‘in negotiations’ over the striker but there has been ‘little progress’ as yet.

Onuachu has a four-and-a-half-year deal waiting for him at St Marys and ‘wants to pursue his Premier League dream’ but at the moment Genk don’t want to let him go.

That’s backed up by journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the striker has already agreed to join Southampton if an agreement can be struck despite being ‘less than convinced’ earlier in the window.

It’s up to Southampton to change their minds, something it appears they are struggling to do in the current set of negotiations.
