Earlier on Monday, we covered an article from Milliyet that stated that Besiktas would ideally want to sign a centre-back before the end of the day, with Manchester United’s Eric Bailly among the candidates.

The other two were Brazilians Nino and David Luiz, who respectively play for Fluminense and Flamengo, and there was a race against time to seal a deal.

The reason for that is because they want to include the signing in their Conference League squad, with that deadline tonight, and the latest from journalist Firat Günayer is that it could very well be the Manchester United defender.

Taking to Twitter to reveal the news, he claims he spoke to ‘the directors’, whom we can only assume will be those of Besiktas, and asked them who will be the signing, Nino or Eric Bailly.

Their reply? “Bailly is more likely.”

This means that despite the transfer window being shut in England, Manchester United still have a chance to offload a player they aren’t going to use this season, with Turkey’s own window ending on September 15th.

Now, whether a deal gets done before the end of the day remains to be seen.
