For the past few weeks, there’s been a lot of talk in the French press about an interest from Lyon in Chelsea’s loanee Bertrand Traoré.
Sent away to Ajax for the season, the Burkina Faso international enjoyed a very prolific campaign with the Dutch side, helping them reach the Europa League final, which they lost to Manchester United last week.
L’Equipe said right at the start that Chelsea would want to start negotiations for Traoré at around €10m, which then moved up to €15m+, but it appears that things have since changed a bit, as RMC Sport on Saturday are reporting the Blues are asking for at least €20m.
Of course, a lot will depend on what Antonio Conte wants to do with the forward, but if Chelsea have a price tag for him, that could mean he’s already made his mind up.
RMC explain Lyon have already been in touch with Traoré’s entourage, and are currently in discussions with them, suggesting no official offer has been sent to Stamford Bridge as things stand.
Considering Alexandre Lacazette is very likely to leave the Ligue 1 side this year, and with Lyon seeking to replace him with former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez, a Traoré arrival could mean an exit for someone else.
That could either be Rachid Ghezzal or Nabil Fékir.
Our money’s on the former of the two, since he still hasn’t renewed his contract with them.
