Leicester City are facing increased competition from Marseille for Atalanta winger Jeremie Boga in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the French side have ‘made enquiries’ for the forward as they eye a deal themselves.

Leicester have been linked with a move for Boga for months, with numerous reports making it clear that they are interested in a deal.

That has been picking up ahead of the January transfer window, with recent claims making it clear that they are ‘ready to return’ to the charge for the player and ‘willing to borrow’ him in January.

Their interest goes back into the summer according to FM, when they made enquiries and ‘come close’ to signing him at the end of the summer. Financial disputes ‘scuppered the deal’ at the last minute.

This time around they face competition from Marseille, who are ‘still on the lookout’ for the player as the possibility of getting him on loan is becoming ‘increasingly clear’.

Leicester are ‘still very interested’ and have ‘renewed some contacts’ to see if a deal can happen this time around.

Marseille are the latest to join the race and it is no secret that Pablo Longoria has ‘long appreciated’ the player. The French side were also keen in 2021.

This time around they want a loan deal for a few months to replace Amine Harit, who has been ruled out with a long-term injury.

Thus, it remains to be seen where Boga will end up, with Leicester facing increased competition for his signature from Marseille.
