The Portuguese media today shares good news regarding Newcastle United’s chase for Sporting defender Ousmane Doimande.
According to newspaper A Bola, the Lions will not use the defender’s €80m release clause as protection, and are willing to give a big discount for his departure.
It’s said Sporting know the initial request had been putting off interested parties, and they are now willing to negotiate his exit for between €50m and €60m.
Even though several European clubs are said to be following Diomande, it’s really Newcastle who are highlighted by the Portuguese newspaper.
It’s said the Magpies are the ‘best placed’ club to make an offer, as they made some enquiries to know more about the conditions for the signing.
A bid from Newcastle is expected to be the ‘next step’ in their pursuit, so it should be no surprise for Sporting when the Magpies come forward with their attempt.
A Bola also names Chelsea and Arsenal as other clubs who are interested in Diomande, but it’s made very clear it’s the Magpies who lead the English race for the centre-back.
