Leicester City are the first club to have made an offer for Morocco star Azzedine Ounahi, who is expected to leave Angers next month.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the Foxes have offered €20m plus €10m if they qualify for the Champions League during his contract.
Ounahi was one of the surprise stars of the tournament in Qatar, putting in a series of impressive performances as Morocco finished fourth overall.
Those performances did not go unnoticed, with it quickly suggested that clubs would be clamouring for his signature in the January transfer window.
That was a little wide of the mark if L’Equipe are to be believed. They explain that Leicester are the ‘first club’ to have made an offer for the player but it is not for the figures already mentioned.
Instead, the Foxes have offered Angers €20m up front and then a further €10m if and when they qualify for the Champions League.
Either way, Angers aren’t that impressed with it and are ‘hoping for more’ before they let their new prized asset depart.
Negotiations between the two sides are ‘expected to escalate’ on that front, with an agreement certainly there to be worked out if Leicester want it.
