Juventus are keen admirers of Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne and could make a move in their attempts to replace Juan Cuadrado.
That’s according to DH Net, who say the defender is still ‘highly rated’ in Italy, with Inter also keeping an eye on him.
Juve’s management hold Castagne in ‘high regard’ and have had him in their sights for some time, something the news outlet have had confirmed to them by Italian sources.
They are ‘desperate’ to strengthen their defence to solve their defensive issues this season, and Castagne is a player they think can help.
A move is considered ‘logical’ as Castagne has started two of Leicester’s last three games on the bench, with him currently competing with Ricardo Pereira for game time.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted they will be rotated fairly to keep things fresh, but the truth is that he is still protecting Castagne following his facial injury in the summer.
Thus game time is going to be limited, meaning Juventus could offer him the chance of regular first-team football to tempt him.
Castagne, for his part, is ‘flattered’ by the rumours but feels his time at Leicester is not over and wants to establish himself at the club and in the Premier League in general.
That would suggest he will turn down any advances should they come his way, although whether that will deter Juventus remains to be seen.
