Four days ago, Calciomercato explained Leeds United are interested in Torino’s Saša Lukić and were closely following him in action for Serbia at the 2022 World Cup.

The midfielder has a deal until 2024 and efforts have made to tie down his future after he impressed for the Serie A side.

This has also seen him attract interest from Lazio, AS Roma and clubs outside Italy, with ‘Leeds above all’.

That’s according to Torino Granata, who state the Whites could possibly sign the 26-year-old in January for €15m if he refuses to sign an extension at the Serie a side.

Lukić earns €700,000 per year, a figure which is likely to be after tax, and wants it to be raised to €2m to sign a new deal. Torino will be able to offer €1.5-1.7m and insert a release clause, which does not please him.

If the Serbian doesn’t commit his long-term future to Torino, he will be immediately put on the market. Jurić wants clarity over the player’s future and wants the club to bring in a replacement if the midfielder decides to leave in the winter market.

For now, Leeds are ahead of others in the signing race and the price quoted isn’t high for Jesse Marsch’s side. These two factors would put them in the driving seat to land Lukić, if they manage to convince him to make a switch to Elland Road.
