Following initial reports from the United States, it’s now the Argentine media who writes about Leeds United’s chase for Sebastián Driussi.

Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, who’s a specialist in transfer stories, writes that the Whites have a ‘firm interest’ in the 26-year-old.

The report points out that two German clubs have also approached the player, but with ‘less intensity’, making it sound like it’s really Leeds who lead the race for him.

Driussi holds an impressive record of 25 goals and six assists in 38 appearances for Austin FC this season, so it’s no wonder he’d draw attention from European clubs in January. He had some previous experience in Europe when playing for Zenit between 2017 and 2021.

On Tuesday, it had been CBS Sports journalist Nico Cantor who reported Leeds’ interest in Driussi. It was said the Whites were among the three Premier League clubs who want the player.

That story said the striker is ‘highly sought after from abroad’, so the Elland Road side will probably do well in trying to get ahead of the competition for his signing.
