Leeds United have emerged as a contender to sign Los Angeles FC’s José Cifuentes, according to reports coming out of Ecuador.
The midfielder was part of the side that won the MLS Cup by overcoming Philadelphia Union in the final last month. After the cup success, the 23-year-old shared a heartfelt message on his journey with the American side over the last two years.
Although he has a contract until December 2023, Cifuentes’ words were interpreted as a farewell message by some. On November 23rd, Bolovaip stated the Ecuador international wants to leave Los Angeles FC after winning the MLS Cup.
This would come as encouragement for Leeds United who have set their sights on the 23-year-old, according to Deportes Sin Limites.
The Whites wanting the player is also discussed by Machdeportes, who say Jesse Marsch’s side are ‘interested in signing’ the player in January.

Last month, news coming out of South America insisted Brighton & Hove Albion and Real Sociedad are in the picture to sign Cifuentes. The latest claims from Ecuador only points out Leeds and there’s no mention of other clubs.
Cifuentes made two appearances for Ecuador at the World Cup.
