The U20 World Cup has been the reason for several transfer rumours in the past few days. And Leeds United have been involved.
According to Ecuatorian outlet Estadio, the Elland Road side are interested in the 20-year-old winger Alexander Alvarado.
The report claims that ‘an important’ scout from the club became impressed with the player’s qualities, and made a very positive report both of his attacking and his defensive skills.
That’s all the website has to say for now, besides adding that Leeds are currently managed by Marcelo Bielsa, which is undoubtedly an attractive factor for South American players.
Alvarado currently plays for SD Aucas, who feature in the Ecuadorian first division. He had been a starter in the team this season, but had to leave them to join the U20 national team, having missed the last few games.
Estadio doesn’t say how much the would player cost, but we’re pretty convinced that Leeds would have the conditions to easily afford the signing.
As for a work permit, that would be more difficult.
