With seven goals in 14 appearances for Blackburn Rovers this season, Ben Brereton Díaz is enjoying himself.

His performances have led to rumours about a possible move to the Premier League, where Everton and Leeds United have been among those linked.

The Toffees could do with an extra striker, especially since Dominic Calvert-Lewin is struggling to remain fit, and a story this morning emerged in Italy claiming they had already enquired about Boulaye Dia.

As for Leeds United, they have Patrick Bamford, but the 29-year-old has yet to find the back of the net this season, as Rodrigo tops their Premier League scoring charts with four goals.

The Elland Road side did sign Wilfried Gnonto towards the end of the transfer window, but the 18-year-old is one for the future.

That leaves a gap needing to be filled, and there’s no denying the Blackburn star could do the trick at either Leeds or Everton going forward.

What also helps potential suitors is his contractual situation, with the Chile international’s deal at Ewood Park coming to an end in June of next year.

This means he is free to talk to a lot of clubs in January, with some even potentially tempted to spend a bit of money in the upcoming transfer window to secure his services early.

Among those could be a bunch of foreign clubs, with Estadio Deportivo naming Almería, Valencia and Champions League sides Sevilla and Milan, among others, as those who ‘join the British such as Leeds and Everton’ as destinations for the Blackburn striker.

They explain the player could ‘become one of the most coveted free agents in the next transfer market’, but Díaz has said on more than one occasion that this isn’t the time for him to speak about an Ewood Park exit.

However, unless he signs a new deal, these stories aren’t going to go anywhere.
