Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side suffered from multiple injury blows in the recently concluded season. It was one of the biggest issues which hampered their campaign, and several key players were out of action for prolonged periods.

One of the biggest blows was the prolonged loss of Lisandro Martinez, who appeared to return too quickly from injury and then ended up missing the majority of the campaign.

He returned just in time to help Manchester United with the FA Cup with victory over neighbours Manchester City, but the Argentina international is still disappointed with the campaign generally, both on a personal and team level.

Currently away with Argentina and preparing for the Copa America with the world champions, Martinez has been speaking to the country’s media.

Quizzed on what happened at Manchester United over the past few months, and his thoughts on the success or otherwise, Martinez is quoted by Ole as saying: “It was not a good season personally and, as a team, too. But you have to be prepared for when these things happen, these types of injuries. And you have to learn from them. I have to take it as an experience and be very strong physically and mentally. Today I feel excellent. I have to focus on what is happening now, in the present.”

Manchester United fans will hope Martinez comes through the Copa America unscathed and is ready for the start of pre-season.
