Earlier this morning we covered reports from Italy that Palermo were showing an interest in Norwich City forward Kyle Lafferty. It now seems a possible deal could be done before the deadline following claims the Serie A side are closing in on the Northern Ireland international.
TMW have reported in the last hour that Palermo are continuing to work on a sensational return to Sicily for their former player. Lafferty had a brief spell with Palermo, and with the club keen to bring in a forward before the window closes a deal could be done for the player.
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is keen to take back the Norwich City ace after his spell with the Sicilian club during the 2013-14 season. The Palermo chief also tried to sign the player in the last window, along with Leeds United.
Lafferty helped the Palermo club gain promotion to Serie A after scoring 11 goals in 34 games, but was sold by Zamparini because of non-football related issues
It’s been claimed the next few hours will be decisive, but the Italian side will face competition from Cardiff City. The Championship club have been talks with Lafferty in recent days, and were looking to seal a deal before Palermo came on the scene.
