Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kökçü has admitted his father and agent are “busy” dealing with transfer negotiations amid rumours of a move to Arsenal.
The Turkish star has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates for several months after another impressive season with the Dutch side.
His tally of three goals and six goals in 35 games this season has reportedly convinced Arsenal to make their move, with a rumour earlier this month claiming that a bid is ‘likely’ as Mikel Arteta believes the 19-year-old will fit in with his ‘philosophy’.
Arsenal are not the only club to have been linked, though, with reports in February claiming that Chelsea were also keen on his signature.
Talk of a move to Stamford Bridge has died off since then, but Arsenal continue to be linked.
Kökçü has refused to comment on those links, but admits that things are happening behind the scenes, even if he isn’t in any rush to move on.
“When the moment arrives, and I feel good about it, we’ll see,” he told Rijnmond.
“I want to make the best of it next season and want to be as fit as possible when the competition starts again.
“For now I’m only working with Feyenoord. I have a contract until 2023, so I’m not in a hurry.”
“It (transfer talk) doesn’t really matter to me, frankly. My father and my agent are busy with that.
“I try to isolate myself from that. That works fine. Fortunately, I am a footballer and not an agent.”
