Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kökcü, with the Gunners having followed him ‘for some time’.
The 19-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular for Feyenoord this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions to date.
He’s managed three goals and five assists in those appearances so far, which has seemingly been enough to earn him attention outside of the Netherlands.
According to Voetbal International, clubs from both the Premier League and La Liga are keen on the midfielder with Arsenal, Chelsea and Sevilla seemingly at the front of the queue.
Arsenal’s interest is nothing new, we’ve covered reports stating they were tracking his development earlier this month and VI say they’ve been doing so for a while.
Chelsea have now joined them, though, as well as several clubs in Turkey and Sevilla, who’s director of football, Monchi, ‘recently signed up to talk about a possible transfer’.
Feyenoord are aware of this interest, and they are going to try and secure Kökcü onto a deal until 2023 to ensure they can receive a ‘significantly higher transfer fee in the future.’
Kökcü himself would prefer to stay at Feyenoord for another year as he wants the club to have ‘something leftover’ from his transfer, suggesting Arsenal and Chelsea may have to wait if they genuinely want him.
