Theo and Lucas Hernandez have made their names in Spanish football, but the footballing brothers are very much French. As their star’s rise, with Lucas at Atletico Madrid, and Theo owned by Atletico, but on loan at Alaves, the French media are starting to take notice.
L’Equipe dub Theo a ‘revelation’ in their Monday edition, and say he ‘never ceases to amaze’. The 19 year old left back scored a half volley at the weekend, to bring even more attention upon himself.
There’s obviously clubs keen on a transfer. Last week we covered claims from Mundo Deportivo that Liverpool have submitted a ‘great offer’ to sign Theo and are prepared to pay the player high wages.
A day later the same Spanish newspaper said Theo and his agent are studying an ‘important’ offer to join Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp interest in Theo is understandable, but competition to sign the player is as tough as it comes. Champions League football is likely to be a must for Liverpool.
There’s no war on transfer fee, Liverpool would have to pay Theo’s reasonable release clause of just over £20m.
