With rumours that Manchester United could let one of either Aaron Wan-Bissaka or Diogo Dalot go, there have been mumblings that Erik ten Hag could sign someone like Denzel Dumfries.
The Dutchman arrived at Inter from PSV Eindhoven last summer to replace Achraf Hakimi, and did well enough to earn himself some good reviews in the transfer rumour mill.
His ability to run up and down the right hand side of the pitch at will is certainly an attraction for many managers, and it appears this is something Ten Hag wants at Manchester United next season.
That’s why we now have two separate outlets in Italy claiming the Red Devils are interested through their new manager.
We’ll start with Calciomercato, who had an article about it on Monday, who state there are ‘two great European clubs’ on Dumfries’ tail, with one of those being Manchester United.
The other, Bayern Munich, recently brought in Noussair Mazraoui on a free from Ajax, and therefore need him less.
However, ‘no offers have been received by Inter’, but it’s pointed out they could be accepted to bring in funds, thus avoiding the sale of another important player, like Alessandro Bastoni.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday have a bit more, stating that everyone should ‘keep an eye on Ten Hag’ when it comes to Dumfries.
Valued at ‘at least €30m’, it’s said both Inter and the galavanting wing-back are ‘curiously looking around’, and Manchester United could come in for him.
That’s because their manager, Ten Hag, ‘rates him a lot and looks for a player to start’ down that side as he starts his attempts to chase the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool up the table.
Nothing overly concrete for now, but definitely worth keeping an eye on.
