Manchester City January transfer signing Nico Gonzalez has admitted he is loving life training under Pep Guardiola, even if he ‘insists a lot on certain things’.
DANZ Futbol have an interview with the Manchester City midfielder today after he joined the club in a €60m deal from Porto in January.
He’s featured regularly since that point, with many hoping he can be the replacement for Rodri when he is not available in future after Manchester City’s struggles without the Ballon D’Or winner this season.
If that is to be the case then Gonzalez has plenty of development and learning to do, not only to help him mimic the best midfielder in Europe, and the best player in the world according to the Ballon D’Or, but one who is pivotal to how Manchester City play.
That will mean adapting to life under Pep Guardiola, who demands the best and is known to be a manager who puts big expectations on his players, particularly in training, to reach the levels he wants.
That has seen him fall out with plenty of players over the years, but it seems that won’t be happening with Gonzalez.
“(Training is) very intense, but very fun, honestly,” he said.
“I think the training sessions are very, very cool. We do rondos almost every day, so you really enjoy them. And, and very good, very, you learn a lot. He insists a lot on certain things that are important, especially for the midfielders.
“Something I really like is that all the coaches are very good. He insists on teaching you a concept, right?
“He insists a lot every day, and in the end, you focus a lot on improving in that sense, and I think that’s what makes a player capable of improving so much in such a short time.”
