Anderlecht are in the race to sign IFK Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist, according to claims in the Belgian media. The 20-year-old has already been linked with Leeds United in recent days, along with Stoke City.
Voetbal Nieuws have claimed Anderlecht are keen on Wahlqvist, and could look to move in on the player when the window opens in the New Year. The Belgian giants are hoping to strengthen their defence in January, and the young defender is an option open to them.
Wahlqvist recently told the Swedish media that he could leave IFK Norrkoping now that the domestic season has finished.
“After three seasons at the club, I feel I’m ready for a new challenge, but I am also happy,” said the Sweden international.
Yesterday we covered reports from Sweden Leeds United could look to sign Wahlqvist when the transfer window reopens in the New Year. It’s been revealed Leeds United will look to make an offer for the Sweden international in January, but face competition to land the youngster.
The defender is currently away with his country, along with Leeds United star Pontus Jansson, as they prepare for tonight’s game against Hungary.
