Speculation is growing in the Swedish media Leeds United are interested in IFK Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist, following claims in the British media. Leeds United in the last window signed Marcus Antonsson from Allsvenskan side Kalmar, and it seems the Championship side are keen to add another Swede to their squad.

Sillyseason.se have reported Leeds United could look to sign Wahlqvist when the transfer window reopens in the New Year. It’s been revealed Leeds United will look to make an offer for the Sweden international in January, but they will face competition from Anderlecht and Stoke City.

However, the three interested clubs will need to convince his club to sell him given he still has two years left on his contract.

Despite his age the 20-year-old has plenty of experience playing in the top flight of Swedish football, and has already played 80 league games for Norrkoping. Wahlqvist has also played for his country twice after making his debut this year.
