Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri has spoken to the Italian media this week. And even though he’s currently on international duty, the local media obviously asked him about switching clubs as well.

Interviewed by Rai Sport, the 26-year-old wasn’t very receptive to the questions, claiming this isn’t the time to speak of transfer rumours.

“It’s early because I still have a two year contract with Chelsea,” Palmieri told Rai Sport (via Tutto Mercato Web).

“I think about the national team, the market is closed and I don’t have to think about anything but my job. In June we’ll see.”

The Brazilian also talked about how good things have been for him at the Italian national team.

“I’ve never worked with a group like this. We are a family and we also bring the joy of being together on the pitch.”

Emerson Palmieri’s return to Italy has been pushed by the local media for years now, as he’s been linked with the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, Milan, Napoli and of course a return to Roma.

Newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport recently claimed he’s more likely to join the Nerazzurri or the Old Lady, as there was a chance of only 40% he’d stay at Chelsea after the summer.

The main reason for these rumours season is that Palmieri has only played 13 matches, as he couldn’t get a place under Frank Lampard or with Thomas Tuchel.
