Unable to add to his Champions League tally on Wednesday night against Juventus, Kylian Mbappé still put in a rather impressive performance, forcing Gianluigi Buffon into a handful of good saves.
Over the past couple of weeks, the number of stories surrounding the young prodigy’s future has increased quite considerably as reports of a potential exit started to emerge.
Among the clubs interested are Manchester United, who have been reported by more than one outlet to have made a bid of around £80m for the 18-year-old, as they look to bolster their attack for next season.
And while Sky Sports have done their best to downplay this story, Le10 Sport try and explain why this sudden Manchester United surge of interest has happened.
The reason is simple: Jorge Mendes.
According to the French magazine, the Portuguese super agent, who also represents José Mourinho, is believed to have brought the two clubs together.
This would fit the narrative surrounding the bid, and considering Jorge Mendes currently has a few fingers firmly lodged in the Manchester United and Monaco pies, it’s entirely conceivable.
Of course, Mendes does not represent Kylian Mbappé in any shape or form, but this wouldn’t be the first time the agent was brought in to facilitate meetings and negotiations for either club.
