Jaap Stam’s future at Reading may be decided today.
According to reports from Tutto Mercato Web, club and manager are having a meeting this Wednesday to discuss the plans for next season.
Even though Reading are willing to offer Stam a contract renewal, the former Manchester United defender would have some new demands, and also wants to know the ambitions of the club’s ownership.
After taking charge of the team at the start of the last season, Jaap Stam had quite a good run by finishing third in the Championship table.
However, the loss to Huddersfield Town in the play-offs final cleft a sour note, so the club must now work to fight for Premier League promotion once again.
Stam’s cup campaigns were only brought to a halt by Arsenal and Manchester United, who both ended up winning those trophies, was a good season all round.
The manager’s contract with Reading officially runs out in 2018.
