Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez featured in Mexico’s friendly match against Chile in the early hours of Wednesday morning, which El Tri ended up losing to La Roja 1-0.

But despite the loss, the player seems happy for his time at the national team, and claimed that his good form in Europe should help him with that.

Speaking to the local press, Jimenez made it clear that the sequence he’s been having for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side is all he wanted at this stage of his career.

“It’s what I’ve been crying out for three or four years now that I’m in Europe, I think I’m doing things right there with the team and I want to continue moving it when I come here. They have given me continuity, I have to comply, keep doing things and respond to that confidence,” said Jimenez (via Medio Tempo).

The striker has also talked about the dispute for a place in the team, and the squad’s evolution under a new manager after the World Cup.

“We are starting this process, I raise my hand to be here and I have to demonstrate it with the team and here in the national side.”

“There is a better understanding, most of us were here last month and now, we are understanding ourselves better, we are leaving with a win and a defeat and with many teachings.”

Jimenez now returns to Wolverhampton, as they face Watford at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday for the Premier League. Nuno may decide to start his striker on the bench, given the long trip back from national duty, and that the match against Chile only finished around breakfast time on Wednesday.
