On March 5th, Sekou Kaba left Manchester United and completed a permanent switch to Cardiff City.
The 17-year-old won’t be part of Cardiff City’s first team as they announced that he will be with their U21s and can also represent their U18s side.
Africa Foot state the forward’s decision to leave Manchester United for Cardiff City may have come as a surprise for some.
The Guinean has now explained how the Bluebirds convinced him to join them on a permanent transfer.
Manchester United signed Kaba for their youth system from Derby County’s academy in March 2021. Africa Foot state he won the championship with Red Devils’ U14s and his growth there had attracted interest from several clubs.
Cardiff City’s project and their plan for him was vital in his decision to leave Manchester United to join them.
Kaba is enjoying his first weeks at his new club and firmly believes he can continue his development with them.
“Signing for Cardiff City was an incredible experience. The welcome was warm, and I immediately felt it was the ideal place for me,” he said.
“I had the opportunity to speak with the first-team director, who detailed the club’s plan. This confirmed my choice, and I am happy to be joining Cardiff. My goal is to work hard to continue improving.”
It’s quite possible Cardiff City assured him of first team football in the near future, which could have been difficult to achieve at Manchester United.
