Seeing his loan at FC Groningen cut short six months early due to a lack of game time, Manchester City’s Uriel Antuna is currently on loan at LA Galaxy, where he’s impressed since his arrival towards the end of January.
Expected to remain there until the end of December, the Mexican forward has picked up two assists in his first eight games, and believes this is a far better fit for him than the Dutch club ever was.
Sitting down with Marca Claro, the 21-year-old, who was bought by City from Santos Laguna back in July 2017, explained he felt a lot more comfortable in Los Angeles, which is helping him gain ‘more confidence to do things’ on the pitch.
And on top of this, Antuna has huge ambitions going forward as a footballer, and he isn’t afraid of putting them out there.
He said: “I have no limits for where I want to be. I want to be one of the best players in the world. Getting to the top level isn’t enough. I always want more. I never give up.”
As for his future, the Manchester City loanee confirmed he was expected to stay in America until the end of the calendar year, at which point an option for him to stay an extra 12 months could be triggered.
For now, however: “I’m happy, I’m playing. We’ll see what opportunities next year will being. If God wants [him to return to the Etihad], why not? One of my objectives is to return to Europe.”
