Following a long time out of Brazil’s squad, Everton star Richarlison managed to have a great comeback to the national team in this international break.
In the few minutes he had against Chile, he managed to score a goal in the 4-0 win. Now starting against Bolivia, once again with a 4-0 result, he scored twice.
Those were the final two matches of the World Cup qualifiers, and certainly meant a lot for a player who’s fighting to have a place at the tournament in November.
Speaking to the Brazilian media after last night’s game, Richarlison claimed he’d like to live at Brazil’s training centre, the Granja Comary, if he could.
“I match the Brazilian national team, every time I come I feel like I’m at home,” said Richarlison (via Globo Esporte).
“I even talked to the boys, said that if I could I would live there at the Granja. Total happiness to be wearing this shirt, I hope to bring joy to my family, my teammates, to continue scoring goals and always honouring the shirt, which is the most important thing.”
Richarlison also talked the excitement ahead of the World Cup.
“We get a little anxious, even knowing that the World Cup is a few months away. We’ll be keeping an eye on and studying a lot the teams that fall in our bracket. Now it’s time to focus on the friendlies that we’ll have, prepare well because we have everything to make a great competition.”
Brazil’s attacking sector is obviously quite difficult to get in. The names on the list this time included the likes of Antony, Neymar, Gabriel Martinelli, Philippe Coutinho, Vinícius Junior, Raphinha and Rodrygo. And players such as Matheus Cunha, Gabigol and Roberto Firmino are all still hopeful of getting a place.
Now Richarlison must continue doing well, both for Everton as for the national team in the upcoming friendlies, to guarantee that place in the tournament. With Brazil lacking centre-forwards, that’s a position he could fight for, and just proved this with goals.
