As Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lucas Moura continues to be linked to a return to São Paulo, we get the rumour being commented at the Brazilian club as well.

The Tricolor are playing at the weekend the Copa Sudamericana final, and the last time they got there, which was in 2012, the player was part of the squad that ended up lifted the trophy.

Actually, that’s a fact that has a lot to do with this rumour being in the headlines today, because back then, when playing the final, Lucas had already been sold to Paris Saint Germain.

So to give him the perfect farewell, São Paulo captain Rogério Ceni let him be the star of the celebration and handed him the cup.

It turns out Rogério Ceni is now the manager of São Paulo, and when interviewed by the tournament’s podcast, was asked if his act in 2012 could make the universe ‘conspire’ for him to win the title again ten years later.

The manager ended up not only saying he wants the trophy, but would like to have the Tottenham player back at the club as well.

“It was also worth it for Lucas’ career, a guy who played in big clubs in Europe, today still in a big one in Europe, Tottenham. Maybe a victory might bring him next year,” said Rogério Ceni (via UOL).

“Then, yes, the universe would really conspire in favor. If because of that, if for that reason, he came back next year, then I would tell you that the universe does conspire in fact;”

“Gee, I’d like to have Lucas to play in our team… it would help, he’s already experienced, but with strength, identified… but it’s more of a dream, a daydream, let’s say, than a reality”.

As widely covered by the Brazilian media and repeated many times by Lucas Moura himself, there’s a chance he could leave Tottenham as a free agent at the end of the season.

And judging by the little playing time he’s been having under Antonio Conte, that looks like a plausible scenario.
