Aston Villa’s new signing Jhon Durán had a word with the Colombian media before flying to England.

At Bogotá’s airport, the 19-year-old spoke to journalist Pipe Sierra, and talked about the big achievement of joining the Premier League side.

“Ah well, happy, happy to see the fruit of the work and waiting for what comes with the help of God,” said Durán.

“I imagined [this would happen]. I imagined but not so soon. But well, God always looks after his children and is very happy for what is happening. Reaching the biggest league in the world is a blessing.”

Judging by the time the interview was made, Duran has probably already landed in England, and should be at Aston Villa’s headquarters very soon.

The signing has already been made official by the Premier League side, but the price for the transfer was revealed by the very same journalist who made the interview.

He claimed that the English club are spending US$18m (£14.75m) up front, plus US$10m (8.2m) in bonuses.

When the transfer was being closed, there was even talk of the player having the medicals in Colombia, since he was part of the U-20 national team squad which is playing the South American Championship this month.

However, it seems Aston Villa demanded him to travel to England to complete the move.

It remains to be seen whether the club will allow him to play the international tournament.
