There’s numerous players over the years who’ve ended up deeply regretting their transfer choices and for Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrøm, it may be turning down Liverpool.

That’s according to Tutto Napoli at least, who speculate today that the winger may be regretting his decision to choose the Italian champions over Liverpool this summer.

Lindstrøm joined Napoli in a €30m move from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer after a couple of years impressing with the German side and establishing himself as a player to keep an eye on.

He reportedly had several big sides watching his progress closely, including Liverpool, who also made a move to sign him this summer.

That is something the player confirmed when he signed for the Serie A champions, detailing their efforts and his decision to ignore them.

“Liverpool was also on me, I support Liverpool and it would have been a great opportunity, but how many minutes would I have had to play? Would it have been smart to go to Liverpool?” he said at the time.

“It’s one of the best clubs in the world and they told me I will play and have many opportunities,” he added, in regard to why he chose Napoli.

Except, two months later, that has not been the case for him. Instead Lindstrøm has barely featured for Napoli this season, featuring in just six games in total and 18% of the available minutes in the league.

In total he’s managed just 136 minutes as Rudi Garcia has went with other options, leading Tutto Napoli to speculate he made ‘regret’ his decision to choose Napoli over the Reds.

Indeed, they believe that he could have played significantly more for Liverpool this season, with Jurgen Klopp often rotating his forward line and making use of the several options he has.

They say it’s ‘too bad he hadn’t reckoned’ with Garcia, or in other words, hadn’t factored in that the new Napoli coach might treat him in this way.

So far, the transfer has been something of a disaster and that decision to turn down Liverpool, the team he supports, is already coming back to haunt him.
