Earlier this week, we covered the fact that Kasper Hjulmand had decided against choosing Matt O’Riley for his Denmark squad for the upcoming international break, as well as his explanation for it.

That will have come as a blow for the Celtic player, who has been excellent under Brendan Rodgers this season, but there have been changes since then.

Ekstrabladet report on the latest update from the Denmark national team, with it announced that Hjulmand was in fact selecting three extra players for his squad.

In what will be great news for the Celtic man, O’Riley is part of the trio, as he, Mohamed Daramy and Morten Hjulmand will all be joining the Denmark squad next week.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding in the Scottish Premiership this campaign, finding the back of the six times in 11 appearances, as well as assisting his teammates three times.

There was hope that he could finally get his first cap for Denmark after representing them multiple times at U21 following his decision to switch allegiances from England, and this latest news will certainly be greatly received by O’Riley himself.

The Celtic midfielder had previously been called up, but remained on the bench in the 2-1 win over San Marino back in October.
