Rangers star Alfredo Morelos should soon get a Colombian teammate at the Ibrox side. That’s because Steven Gerrard’s side are in talks for the signing of FC Honka striker Juan Alegría, according to the player himself.

The 18-year-old was interviewed by Colombian outlet AS, and revealed that the clubs are concluding the talks for his move to Glasgow.

“The team made an approach with Honka,” Juan Alegria told AS.

“They are finalising the agreements between the clubs. God willing, I will be a Rangers player.”

Asked about his future in Scottish football, the 18-year-old is happy that Rangers is another step forward in his career.

“I think that in Scotland I must continue working. My objectives are great, this doesn’t stop here. I have to keep working and not settle, in order to achieve all my goals.

“Being in Finland has allowed me to have a competitive pace, but being at Rangers would be even more important because I’d continue to learn what I need in my career.”

The youngster was also quizzed on having the company of Alfredo Morelos at Rangers, and says he sees him as a teammate to look up to.

“Alfredo has made history not only in Scotland but at the European level, being a scorer in the Europa League. I hope I can come to Rangers to strengthen myself, learn from him, my teammates and the coaching staff.”

Juan Alegría used to belong to Deportes Tolima’s academy, and move to Finland when sold to FC Honka on this summer. It seems it only took a few months for him to draw the attention from other European sides.

The striker has also been featuring for Colombia’s youth ranks, and now he claims to be working to be soon featuring for their first team.

“I’m preparing, I’m working very hard because I want to be in the Colombia U20 national team. I’ve already been in the U15 and U17, I want to finish the process to be able to be in the first team.

“I’ve had approaches with the technical staff of the national team, now I’m preparing myself, I’m on my feet for when the professor makes the decision to call me to the U20 and thus be prepared to go to the national team.”

Such ambition can only be good for Rangers.
