Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has urged Harry Kane to stay in the Premier League should he leave the club this summer.

Kane has found himself in the middle of a growing transfer rumour over the last few weeks, with numerous reports about a potential exit from Tottenham in the summer.

Several reports have indicated that Manchester City are suitors for the striker as they look for a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero, with Kane and Erling Haaland thought to be at the top of their list, but he’s now been urged to perhaps go to Manchester United and Old Trafford instead.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked with a move, and Kane is unlikely to be short of suitors should an exit from Tottenham become a real thing.

Kane has already been advised to leave Spurs should he be given the chance, with Roy Keane recently urging him to take the opportunity.

The Irishman has now been backed by former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, although he warns against moving to Real Madrid, suggesting Manchester United as an alternative should the opportunity to join the Red Devils arise.

“A nice story,” he told Ziggo Sport, relayed by FC Update.

“When he first came to train with us, he was eighteen years old, and I swear to you, Gomes, our goalkeeper at the time, said: he can’t do a damn thing.

“You see, he is now the best striker after Lewandowski.

“He (Keane) is right, although, of course, he is the man at Tottenham. It may sound crazy, but you would almost say go to Manchester United or something, stay in England.

“Usually, it’s not such a success when an English player goes to Madrid.

“For Tottenham, he is a guarantee for goals, and he earns a fortune there too, so he doesn’t have to leave for that.”

Whether Manchester United, who could be looking for a striker in the summer should Edinson Cavani leave, will want to spend a large sum of money on Kane, however, remains to be seen.
